0.9.5 Released
0.9.5 is finally here! It's mostly aesthetic changes, new music tracks, graphics, sound effects, and whatnot. But I also expanded the second episode! ...Which I forgot to put in the change log that comes with the game. Has anyone read that, anyway? This one's more reliable and has less typos anyway.
Eventually, I'm going to have achievements. But in the meantime, have some developer runs to try to beat. (I didn't go for any specific type of run, so you should be able to beat any one category without much trouble)
Gameplay Additions:
-Added four new themes:
--Erzonil and Tifnozil, both indented as stage themes for episode 3.
--Salutation, the main boss theme
--July, intended as the final boss theme.
-Added "misfires": if a projectile is shot at a wall point-blank, it won't immediately destroy the entity that shot it.
Gameplay Changes:
-Altered the Flamethrower Hovercraft
--It's now willing to fly closer to the player
--It now has sound effects for flying and getting shot down.
-Decreased the precision of the ais that bounce their projectiles off of walls to hit you *just* enough that it shouldn't actually decrease their accuracy, but should improve performance when a lot of them are aiming.
-Made new art for all blocks as a trial for the new art style
Level Changes:
-Existing levels how play the new soundtrack.
--Levels in Episodes 1 and 2 will have the tracks intended for episode 3 until I actually make tracks of them.
--The 20th level of Episode 2 and the demo-only 21st level of episode 2 will both play the final boss theme until the actual final boss is added.
Bugfixes:
-Fixed glitch where one shell of the shotgun would have a particle trail as if it would bounce off walls. Again. This glitch was supposed to be fixed in 0.9.4, but I guess it wasn't fixed hard enough.
-Hopefully fixed strange glitch that causes the game to crash under certain circumstances when killing shield bunkers. I say hopefully, I don't really know what causes it, so I can't test it very well.
-Fixed a glitch that prevented selection of tracks other than the first two added to the game.
-Corrected the Metatank's projectile-destroying flash when it's final phase spawning particles over particles instead of the projectiles it was destroying.
-Possibly fixed rare crash where if an enemy killed their target they would try to target something that doesn't exist.
Other:
-Changed the main menu so that tanks will spawn and shoot each other
-Changed the pause screen graphic.
This might be the last public release before the first complete release, 1.0.0. There's not really much left to do... I just need to finish making new graphics and finalize the main three episodes and that should be it. There aren't any more major things to code that are necessary.
